Gel ink is a fusion of the best properties of ball point ink and water based ink featured in rolling ball pens. It offers the permanence of oil based ball point ink and the smooth writing of water based ink. Pilot's Gel ink formula is water resistant, smear-proof, acid free and archival safe. The Gel ink base can accept a higher saturation of pigment than oil-based ball point ink or water based liquid ink. This pigment saturation makes Pilot's ink colors more vivid. A special ink additive allows exceedingly smooth writing. A proprietary tip design controls the amount of ink flowing to the point and prevents skipping.
